Choosing tracks (I): Dance of Illusions

This entry is special, as it opens a new section on this blog called "Choosing tracks". In this section, I'll talk about some of the tracks that I'll include in the game's final version, mostly legendary Castlevania ones.

However, simply telling you which version will be chosen isn't funny, is it? Besides, making a choice isn't always easy. So I'll make things this way: what I consider the best versions of a same track will be posted, and we'll discuss the pros and cons of all of them. I'll never say which one win, that would ruin the surprise, as I said earlier.

Let's begin. Today, the fortunate track is "Dance of Illusions", Dracula's trademark theme. Yes, it will play the same role here. Oooooh, what a spoiler, I just revealed the final boss.

After listening intently to all the existing verions, I'll decide between these three:

1. Rondo of Blood

The use of drums and wind gives a powerful feeling to this tune. Besides, it belongs to the game where the legendary speech between Dracula and Richter occurs.

2. Symphony of the Night

This one sounds quite regal, if you ask me. I also love the sound of the organ.

3. Circle of the Moon

I have to warn you: I may be a bit biased here, since CotM was the first Castlevania I played. Goody, I enjoyed this game so much, unlocking and completing all the extra modes... Whatever. What I love about this version is that it sounds so catchy. It gives pure frenziness to the final battle.

That's it. All of them makes the final fight epic, but only one can remain. Onward to the discussion boat!

Getting started: provisional logo and first details

Hello to everypony, and welcome. I've created this blog in order to inform the brony community about the development of a videogame I'm actually making.

As you can see, it will be a crossover between Konami's famous franchise "Castlevania" and Hasbro's show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". Final logo and title may change, but one thing will remain: the Cutie Mark Crusaders are the main characters.

The game is still in the first stages of development, and I'm sorry to tell that I have nothing to show yet. But I suppose I can tell you some details.

-It will follow the path of 2D Castlevania games since "Symphony of the Night": you'll have to explore Dracula´s castle, going back over your steps often to discover new areas and rewards after you obtain new abilities. You'll gain experience from your defeated enemies, making you levelling up and thus rising your stats.

-The castle won't be the only place to explore.

-As I said earlier, you'll play as the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They're similar to the Charlotte-Jonathan duo in "Portrait of Ruin": you can only control one of them at a time, and switch between them when you want. They share HP and MP, and each one has unique skills.

-There will be easter eggs and cameos from both sides.

-Your skills and powers won't be enough to finish your quest: you'll find some puzzles to solve.

That's all for know, folks. I'll update this each time I have something to say about the game and its development.
